Deputies arrested a 35-year-old man following an incident at the Steuben County Jail involving a homemade weapon.
Eric Powers, 35, is accused of possessing a knife-like instrument while incarcerated at the jail.
He also possessed damaged food containers, which belonged to the jail.
He was charged with a felony count of possessing prison contraband, as well as criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.
The charges will be answered at a later date.
