Auburn schools continue with diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic plan

The Auburn Enlarged City School District in New York is working on a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategic plan aimed at preparing students for the future.

The Citizen reports that Bill Berry, the district’s DEI consultant, emphasized the need to equip students for the region’s changing demographics and economic landscape.


The district’s plan, which started development in 2020, is a long-term approach that aims to evolve and include everyone’s input.

The DEI plan includes four main priorities: recruiting and retaining a diverse teaching staff, promoting professional learning for DEI, organizing celebrations to foster community building and belonging, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for students.
