Yankees drop two of three to Red Sox

The New York Yankees (38-29) dropped their second straight series with a 3-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox (33-33) in 10 innings on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium.

New York was held to just three hits, with the last coming in the fourth inning. Jose Trevino plated both runs with a two-out hit off the second-base bag in the second.

Clarke Schmidt threw the ball well again, allowing just one run over 5 1/3 innings while striking out four. He owns a 2.33 ERA over his last five outings.

The Yankees, who have lost four of six, get the day off Monday before the Subway Series begins Tuesday night at Citi Field.
