The Village of Newark witnessed a beautification transformation recently during the 17th Annual Community Pride Day.
Scores of volunteers enthusiastically participated in activities such as planting flowers, weeding, and cleaning up trash across the village.
The drive for cleanliness and aesthetics was taken up not just by residents but also by local business owners, who put in personal efforts to adorn their front yards and storefronts with stunning flowers, adding to the community’s charm.
In this year’s contest, Patricia and Ron Lootens of 304 West Maple Avenue emerged as winners for the “Most Colorful Natural Flowers in a Newark Resident’s Front Yard,” earning a prize of $200 presented by Mayor Jonathan Taylor.
The Community Pride Day Committee expressed their gratitude towards the numerous businesses and organizations for their generous support for the event, and also lauded the many community volunteers and residents who participated enthusiastically, lending their hands and time to beautify the community.
