An apartment fire in Bath prompted the evacuation of residents during the early morning hours on Friday.
According to officials, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office were the first responders on scene, followed by the Bath Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to put an interior attack on the fire, which was contained to the third floor. A second alarm was activated due to the volume of smoke involved with the fire.
One apartment and a hallway were fully engulfed in flames. The fire was put out and most of the damage was contained to that area.
However, the entire building suffered widespread smoke and heat damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
