Seneca Falls continues with comprehensive plan process

The Town of Seneca Falls announced the scheduling of its first public forum as part of the ADVANCE Seneca Falls 2040 Comprehensive Plan process. The planning  process is being guided by a steering committee, composed of residents, business  owners, non-profits, major employers, cultural stakeholders and a consultant team led by MRB Group of Rochester, NY. The steering committee will host a public forum on June 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Seneca Falls Community Center located at  35 Water Street in Seneca Falls.

The session will be facilitated in a drop-in format. Residents and community stakeholders are encouraged to stop in and provide your feedback on each of the issues outlined above, as well as any other input that will assist the steering committee  establish the community’s long-term vision and identify the necessary actions needed  to achieve that vision.

The Comprehensive Plan will serve as a decision-making tool for accelerating the  community’s progress toward a shared vision and set of planning principles. A plan evaluates aspects of a community’s operations and market conditions to assist in creating a roadmap toward achieving a vision for community success. ADVANCE Seneca Falls seeks to reinforce and focus on growth in specific policy areas, including:

  • Economic Development and Financial Security.
  • Resident Retention and Attraction
  • Protection and Enhancement of the Built Environment
  • Reinforcing and Expanding Arts and Culture as an Economic Driver

“The Town Board and project steering committee recognize that this plan must be  reflective of, and owned by the community. This forum, and other engagement  opportunities seek to gain unique insight from residents and key community  stakeholders,” said Dr. Pete Soscia, Town Manager.

The planning process is set to conclude this summer, with an initial draft delivered to the  Town Board in early fall. For more information on plan activities, or to provide additional input on plan elements, visit the Town’s project website.
