In an impressive show of marksmanship, the Falcon Trap Club from South Seneca Junior/High School bagged first place in Conference 9 of the 2023 New York State Clay Target Spring League.
In a league-wide competition that saw 136 high school teams divided into 17 conferences across two classes, the Falcon Trap Club stood out, notching up 4124 points with 15 students participating.
The team outperformed runners-up Lyme Central School and North Collins School District, both tying for second place with 3571.5 points each.
Achievements extended beyond team success as Coleton Dresser and Pheobe Barkman, teammates from South Seneca, individually ranked third among conference shooters in the male and female classes.
“Consistency was key to our season’s success, as we topped the conference every week over five weeks,” said Matt Barkee, Head Coach and School District Teacher. He praised the coaching staff, host facility, and the supportive parents, school district, and community that played an integral part in their triumph.
The team now advances to the State Tournament in Cicero on June 10, shooting out of the Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club.
