The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on a structure and vehicle fire that happened on Gullick Road in the town of Bristol.
Deputies said Thomas Knapp, 63, and Charlene Flieger, 55, arrived home in their vehicle around 10:48 a.m. As they exited, they could see smoke coming from under the hood.
Knapp then attempted to open the hood, but decided not to when he heard fire crackling in the engine compartment.
Flieger then called 911 to report the fire.
The flames spread from the vehicle to another, then to their house.
The house sustained heavy damage and both vehicles were destroyed.
Firefighters from Bristol, Richmond, Livonia, Cheshire, East Bloomfield, West Bloomfield, Hemlock, and Naples responded to the scene.
