The New York Mets (30-28) offense was a no-show on Friday night as they dropped the series opener to the Toronto Blue Jays (31-27), 3-0, at Citi Field.
New York was held to just four hits and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position while leaving five on base. Jeff McNeil had the team’s only extra-base knock.
Justin Verlander tossed six innings of one-run ball while striking out eight batters.
The Mets will try to bounce back on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. with Tylor Megill on the mound.
