Cayuga judge rejects rights violation claims of former Auburn SRO in sex abuse case

In a recent decision Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone refuted that the rights of former Auburn Police Department officer William Morrissey were violated during the investigation of alleged sexual misconduct with a minor.

The decision reported by The Citizen denies the motion to dismiss or reduce the charges against Morrissey, who was arrested in late March 2022 over accusations of sexually abusing a 14-year-old student.

The 33-year-old officer, previously stationed at Auburn High School, was also charged with first-degree sexual abuse and two misdemeanor charges, in addition to a further count of disseminating indecent material to minors.

Judge Leone rejected an array of claims made by the defense in the case.
