John Rio, a 49-year-old man from Jordan in Onondaga County, has been charged with possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and discharging it from a public highway.
According to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Rio, alongside his 14-year-old son, allegedly stopped his truck in the Town of Niles, Cayuga County, to shoot at a DEC turkey decoy.
Known for repeated violations of New York State’s Environmental Conservation Law, Rio may face further charges after consultations between DEC officers and the District Attorney’s Office.
