Alfred E. Piombino will conduct an in-person workshop at Alfred State College for those interested in becoming an official New York State Notary Public. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 14, and runs from 9:00 am until 12:30 p.m. in the Central Dining Hall (Allegany Room) at the Allegany County main campus. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.
Pennsylvania residents are eligible to receive a Notary Public appointment in New York.
Attendance at this training program is a must for every applicant to properly prepare for the authority, duties and responsibilities of holding a New York State Notary Public Commission. This practical and fast-paced program helps prepare participants to take and pass the New York State written examination (closed-book and in-person proctored). Highlights include review of recent February 2023 release of the newly designated Electronic Notary or “e-Notary” and Remote Online Notarization (RON). New mandatory journal requirements will be discussed, in addition to other new law, rules and regulations affecting all New York State Notaries Public.
This all-inclusive training program provides two best-selling books written by the speaker – Notary Public Handbook: A Guide for New York and Notary Public Register and Recordkeeping Protocols. Four sample examinations are provided to every participant as a self-study aid for review after the workshop.
Piombino is the leading New York and national notary law and practice expert. Starting in 1987, his legal study, research and scholarship has helped improve the Office of Notary Public. He designed and initiated the Notary Public Training Programs at over 35 State University of New York (SUNY) and City University of New York (CUNY) colleges throughout New York State, including Alfred State College, Cayuga Community College, SUNY DELHI and SUNY Oswego. He has personally prepared tens of thousands of people to pass the New York State Notary Public examination. Piombino is the author of nine law books, including Notary Public Handbook: Principles, Practices & Cases, National Edition, a court expert witness and is listed in Who’s Who in American Law. He is a former county probate court official, fair hearing officer and civil service commissioner and is past SUNY college business law faculty. He is a licensed, Master-rated officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
