An employee of the Camillus Walmart store was injured while fleeing an armed man, prompting an immediate lockdown of the facility, according to local police.
The incident occurred in the store’s parking lot on West Genesee Street, after the suspect became agitated with an ATM machine inside the store.
When asked to cease his aggressive behavior towards the machine and the store’s sliding doors, the man brandished what appeared to be a handgun, causing the employee to fall back, strike his head, and subsequently require hospitalization at Crouse Hospital.
The Camillus Police Department has issued a lookout notice for the suspect, who was last seen fleeing towards the Kasson Road area.
Witnesses have described the individual as a white male, adorned in a dark t-shirt and pants, a cowboy hat, and sporting a long gray and black beard. Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses and urge anyone with further information, or who spots an individual matching this description, to immediately contact Camillus Police.
