The New York Mets (26-25) rolled past the Chicago Cubs (22-27), 10-1, on Thursday night at Wrigley Field to avoid the three-game sweep.

Pete Alonso crushed his Major League-leading 19th home run, while Carlos Carrasco turned in his best start of the season, allowing one run over 6 2/3 innings.

Brandon Nimmo, Brett Baty, and Starling Marte each drove in two runs. Francisco Lindor added an RBI, while Francisco Alvarez stayed red-hot at the plate, collecting two hits.

The Mets will head to Colorado to begin a three-game series with the Rockies at Coors Field on Friday at 8:40 p.m.
