According to the latest from AAA, Syracuse has seen a minor decrease in the average gas price, dropping to $3.68 per gallon as of Monday, down 1 cent from last week.
The national average remains steady at $3.54 per gallon, while New York State’s average also dipped slightly to $3.66, one cent lower than the previous week.
This week saw an interruption in the usual fluctuations of gas prices, largely attributable to decreased demand and the low cost of oil.
Whether this is a momentary pause before Memorial Day or a trend extending into the summer is yet to be determined. AAA predicts a robust Memorial Day weekend travel scene, expecting 42.3 million people to be on the move, with nearly 88% driving to their destinations.
