One person airlifted, cited for speeding after accident in Yates County

Deputies in Yates County say speed was a critical factor in a single-car accident that led to the driver being ejected from the vehicle.

The incident occurred on Thursday night on State Route 245 just north of Flint Hill Road in Middlesex, resulting in serious, undisclosed injuries to the driver, 24-year-old Katlin Wells of Penn Yan.

Wells, the sole occupant of the car, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.

She received citations for excessive speed, failure to keep right, and not wearing a seatbelt.

A host of emergency response units, including the Middlesex Fire Department, Canandaigua Ambulance, Mercy Flight, Middlesex Ambulance, Rushville Fire Department, and the Yates County Office of Emergency Services, were deployed to the scene by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
