Corning’s Gaffer District is set to host the annual GlassFest, a celebration of glassmaking, beginning Thursday, May 25, through Sunday, May 28.
The festival includes a variety of activities such as live music, food and art vendors, glass exhibits, and more. The Corning Museum of Glass will initiate the event at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a free glass-making demonstration, live music, and refreshments during the museum’s 2300 Degrees event.
The subsequent days will see a multitude of festivities including glass blowing demonstrations, a National Poppy Day ceremony, street vending, and live musical performances.
The event will also host the Wineglass 8K race, guided art tours, a sister cities agreement signing, and a Memorial Day salute. The festival will conclude with a firework display over the Chemung River on Saturday night.
