Ontario County is advancing a comprehensive housing study, which was a key topic during the recent Board of Supervisors meeting.
County Administrator Michael DeBolt reported that multiple roundtable discussions have been held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges with the participation of non-profit organizations, municipal leaders, and potential housing developers, which offered valuable feedback for the progression of the county’s housing plan.
Urban Partners of Philadelphia, a consulting firm engaged by county officials, initiated the study last year, contributing to a detailed analysis of local housing needs.
The study encompasses infrastructure, household size, income ranges, and the capacity to provide housing and transportation for jobs within the county.
It also takes into account the needs of the homeless population and lower-income residents, focusing on housing, daycare, and transportation requirements. DeBolt assured attendees that significant progress on the study is expected in the forthcoming months.
