Sheriff Brian Schenck gave an update on the crash on Poplar Ridge Road in the town of Venice on Thursday.
According to a news release, it happened at the intersection of Indian Field Road and Poplar Ridge Road. A school bus was involved; and preliminary investigation has revealed that the car being operated by Matthew Kleinmann, of Genoa, was traveling south on Indian Field when it failed to stop and yield the right of way to an oncoming Southern Cayuga Central School bus.
The bus was traveling west on Poplar Ridge Road.
The crash caused the intersection to be closed while first responders provided emergency medical aid to the occupants and the investigation unfolded. The school bus did not have any children on it, Schenck said. He said the driver of the bus was Matthew Krebbs, who had a single adult passenger with him.
All parties involved in the accident were transported to Upstate Hospital for treatment.A dozen different agencies and companies were called to the scene.
