One airlifted after serious two-car crash in Ontario County

One person ultimately had to be airlifted to a hospital in Rochester after a serious crash in Ontario County.

On May 15 around 4:45 p.m. deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of 5&20 and Gates Road in the town of Seneca.

According to a news release, a 2016 GMC Sierra being operated by Arlin Newswanger, 17, of Rushville was traveling west on 5&20 when Suzanne Morrissey, 69, of Elmira was traveling south on Gates Road.

Morrissey had stopped at the intersection, but failed to yield the right of way to Newswanger. She began to make a left turn onto 5&20 causing the wreck.

Morrissey had to be extricated from the vehicle; then transported to Geneva General Hospital before staff there determined that she needed to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.

She was ticketed for her role in the crash.
