The New York Mets took the series opener from the Washington Nationals with a 3-2 victory on Friday night at Nationals Park.
New York trailed 2-0 going into the sixth inning when Francisco Lindor lined a bases-clearing single to center field that would put the Mets on top for good. Jeff Brigham, Adam Ottavino, David Robertson, and Drew Smith combined to get the final 12 outs.
Tylor Megill started and gave up two runs (one earned) over five innings while walking four and striking out four.
The two teams will meet again Saturday at 4:05 p.m.
