The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says a Canandaigua man faces a vehicular assault charge after he struck a juvenile pedestrian on State Route 444.
On May 7 around 2:53 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a crash involving a pedestrian.
They say a juvenile female was walking north on Route 444 when Michael Defrancesco, 39, of Canandaigua crossed the fog line and struck her.
The juvenile was seriously injured and airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.
Following an investigation, Defrancesco was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was released on appearance ticket.
However, State Route 444 was shut down for two hours as the investigation unfolded.
