Mets blank Rockies to snap three-game skid

The New York Mets’ (17-16) offensive struggles continued Friday night at Citi Field, but strong performances from the pitching staff led them to a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies (12-21) and snapped a three-game skid.

The only run came in the fourth inning when Brandon Nimmo drilled his third home run of the season. He collected two of the team’s five hits.

Kodai Senga allowed just two hits over six shutout innings. The right-hander did issue four walks but was able to work his way out of jams to avoid damage.

Drew Smith, David Robertson, and Adam Ottavino fired scoreless innings to help secure the win.

The Mets will try to win the series Saturday when they hand the ball to Tylor Megill. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
