Buffalo Sabres defenseman Owen Power was named one of three finalists for the 2023 Calder Trophy.
The award is given annually to the best rookie in the NHL as selected in a poll by the Professional Hockey Writers Association and the winner will be announced on June 26 at 8 p.m.
Seattle’s Matty Beniers and Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner were the other finalists.
Power, 20, led all rookie defensemen in assists (31) and points (35), was tied for second in plus-minus rating (plus-10) with Dylan Samberg of the Winnipeg Jets, and finished third in power-play points (eight).
Power would be the first Sabres player to win the award since Tyler Myers in 2009-10.
