Bath resident admits to distributing methamphetamines

On Wednesday, Bath resident Gerald Barclay, 25, pleaded guilty to the possession and intent to distribute methamphetamine in an incident dating back to August 2022, as confirmed by officials.

U.S. Attorney Tini E. Ross stated that Barclay admitted to possessing more than five grams of methamphetamine with plans to distribute the illegal substance. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cassie Kocher, who is overseeing the case, revealed that New York State Police executed a search warrant at Barclay’s Bath home on August 22, 2022.

Authorities discovered drug packaging materials, digital scales, and approximately $1,866 in cash within the premises during the search. Kocher added that investigators found roughly 195 grams of pure methamphetamine outside the residence, concealed near a stack of tires adjacent to a garage.

Barclay now faces a minimum prison sentence of five years, with the possibility of serving up to 40 years. Additionally, he may be required to pay a $5,000,000 fine. His sentencing is set for 11 a.m. on July 27, 2023.
