Yankees place Aaron Judge on injured list

The New York Yankees made a couple of roster moves before Monday’s series opener against the Cleveland Guardians.

Aaron Judge was placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 28) with a right hip strain, and Franchy Cordero was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Judge, who will be eligible to come off the IL on May 8, sustained the injury sliding headfirst into third base last Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins.

The reigning American League Most Valuable Player is batting .261/.352/.511 with six home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season.
