Doors open at new URMC outpatient rehab facility in Canandaigua

Last week patients were welcomed to the new Canandaigua branch of UR Medicine Thompson Health’s outpatient rehabilitation center.

Situated at 699 South Main St., the facility is located next to UR Medicine Orthopaedic Services, UR Medicine Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Thompson’s Canandaigua Urgent Care.

The expansive 14,000-square-foot center offers a wide range of rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training, as well as specialized treatments such as lymphedema, hand, and aquatic therapies. The facility is equipped with an on-site therapy pool and a ceiling-mounted weight support and fall-protection system, designed to assist patients in practicing walking, while also enhancing strength and balance.

Previously housed within F.F. Thompson Hospital on Parrish Street in Canandaigua, the outpatient rehabilitation services have now relocated, along with over 40 staff members. However, Speech Therapy, another section of Thompson’s Rehabilitation Services department, will continue to operate from its existing location on the hospital’s ground floor.

Thompson Health Rehabilitation Services also maintains additional outpatient facilities in Victor and Farmington for patients’ convenience.
