A Virginia man who robbed a bank in Cayuga County was sentenced to state prison.
Johann Bass, 45, of Falls Church, Virginia, received the maximum sentence of 2⅓ to 7 years for his conviction of third-degree robbery, after pleading guilty on January 23.
On January 12, 2022, Bass entered the KeyBank branch in Auburn and handed the teller a note stating, “Stay calm, I have a gun, give me your money.”
He was caught and only escaped with $700 but was ultimately found guilty in court.
