Ken Jeong will give commencement weekend address at Cornell University

Renowned actor, comedian, and licensed physician Ken Jeong, famous for his roles in the “Hangover” film series and as a panelist on “The Masked Singer,” has been selected to be the guest speaker at Cornell University’s Commencement Weekend Convocation next month.

Cornell University’s tradition dictates that guest speakers do not address the Commencement ceremony itself. Instead, they are invited to speak at a separate Convocation event earlier in the weekend. According to Ballew, the Convocation event is a time for the graduating class to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on their experiences, while considering how to continue doing good in the world.

Cornell has previously welcomed prominent Convocation speakers such as President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Joe Biden, astronaut Mae Jemison, and newscaster Soledad O’Brien, among others.

Ken Jeong, 53, earned his M.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1995 and won the Big Easy Laff Off the same year while completing his internal medicine residency in New Orleans.

The Senior Convocation is scheduled for 1pm on Thursday, May 25th, at Cornell’s Barton Hall. Ticket information will be released shortly, and a video livestream will be made available. The university noted that the event is primarily for December 2022 and May 2023 undergraduate graduates, with graduate and professional students as well as current Cornell community members invited as space permits.
