The New York Mets (14-11) dropped their fourth straight game on Wednesday night with a 4-1 loss to the Washington Nationals (9-14) at Citi Field.
Once again, the Mets struggled to generate offense against Washington’s pitching staff. They were held to just four hits, and only one was for extra bases. Starling Marte plated the only run with a single in the third inning.
Kodai Senga allowed two runs on five hits over five innings while walking four and striking out seven. Jeff Brigham also surrendered a run in relief.
The Mets will try to avoid the sweep on Thursday with Joey Lucchesi on the bump. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
