Yankees drop third straight with loss to Twins

The New York Yankees (13-11) dropped their third straight game on Tuesday night with a 6-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins (14-10) at Target Field in Minneapolis.

The game was tied at two entering the bottom of the sixth inning, and then things changed quickly. Nestor Cortes served up a two-run shot to Byron Buxton, and later in the inning, Ron Marinaccio gave up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach. That was all Minnesota needed as the Yankees’ offensive struggles continued.

New York had eight hits, but none were for extra bases. DJ LeMahieu plated the first run with a single, and the other run scored on an error.

Cortes allowed four runs in a game for the first time since July 8, 2022.

Nick Ramirez, who was signed to a Major League contract before the game, fired two scoreless frames.

The Yankees will try to avoid the sweep on Wednesday afternoon with Domingo Germán on the mound.
