Jose Butto, who was called up before the game to make a spot start, surrendered two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Jimmy Yacabonis gave up the other three.
The Mets will try to snap their three-game skid on Wednesday with Kodai Senga on the bump. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
