On Monday evening, a devastating house fire broke out in Niles, requiring the swift intervention of fire departments from both Cayuga and Onondaga counties. The inferno began around 8 p.m. at a residence located at 4754 State Route 41A and quickly intensified.
Initially reported as a chimney fire, the flames rapidly spread throughout the home, resulting in a partial roof collapse that forced firefighters to evacuate the premises temporarily.
Despite the challenging circumstances, authorities confirmed that the two occupants of the house managed to escape unharmed.
As of Monday night, further details regarding the fire and its cause were still forthcoming.
