A one-car rollover accident on State Route 14 in Yates County left a Geneva woman injured and facing multiple traffic violations. Speeding and inclement weather conditions contributed to the dramatic accident that occurred during the lunch hour on Monday.
Erika Cortes Castro, 28, was heading northbound when she lost control of her vehicle, unable to manage a slight curve in the road. Her car veered off the east side, rolling down an embankment before finally coming to a halt on its roof in a nearby yard.
Cortes Castro was swiftly transported to Geneva General Hospital by Penn Yan Ambulance to receive treatment for arm pain. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office cited her for speeding and other traffic offenses, noting that freezing rain and snow were also factors in the crash.
Emergency responders from the Dresden Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, and Medic 55 provided crucial assistance at the scene, working alongside the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
