The New York Mets (14-8) had their three-game win streak snapped with a 7-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants (7-13) on Saturday evening at Oracle Park.
David Peterson turned in his worst performance of the season, allowing seven runs on seven hits over five innings while walking one and striking out a season-high eight batters.
With Peterson’s struggles, the Mets fell into an early hole and never could climb out of it.
Brandon Nimmo, who has been red-hot on the road trip, crushed his second home run of the season. Daniel Voeglbach plated a run with a double, while Starling Marte and Brett Baty delivered run-scoring singles.
The Mets will try to cap off the 10-game road trip with a victory and a series win on Sunday Night Baseball. Tylor Megill will start for New York. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
