Pete Alonso crushed his Major League-leading ninth home run as the New York Mets (13-7) cruised to a 9-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants (6-12) on Thursday night at Oracle Park.
Alonso’s homer, a two-run shot in the first inning, opened the scoring. He later drove in two more runs with a single, capping off a four-RBI night.
Eduardo Escobar also smacked a two-run home run, his second of the season, while Jeff McNeil went deep for the first time before adding an RBI single.
Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 at the plate, one of which was a run-scoring double.
Kodai Senga surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings while walking four and striking out four.
Brooks Raley, John Curtiss, Drew Smith, and Jeff Brigham had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
The Mets will send Joey Lucchesi to the mound on Friday as they look to improve to 7-1 on the West Coast trip. The first pitch is slated for 10:10 p.m.
