The Sands Family YMCA in Canandaigua has been granted a generous $1 million donation from businessman, philanthropist, and Rochester native Brian F. Prince. This contribution will go towards the construction of an aquatic center within the facility, which will be named the Prince Aquatic Center.

Spanning almost 10,000 square feet, the Prince Aquatic Center is set to house two swimming pools. One will be a warm water pool complete with a splash pad for families, while the other will feature six lanes for lap swimming and other activities. Additionally, the center will include a whirlpool and dry sauna.

Brian Prince, who has fond memories of visiting the Northwest Family YMCA in Greece as a child, believes that the Sands Family YMCA and its aquatic center will have a significant impact on the Canandaigua community. After experiencing the importance of a modern aquatic center at another YMCA location, Prince is excited to support the development of such a facility in Canandaigua.

The Sands Family YMCA is slated to open its doors on October 2. The establishment of this facility has been made possible primarily through a remarkable $13.5 million gift from the Sands Family Foundation to support the YMCA.
