Police took one person into custody late-Sunday at the Wegmans downtown after what’s being described as a mental health incident.
Initial reports to law enforcement indicated that a man was walking through the supermarket carrying multiple knives.
The call came in around 9:38 p.m. First responders cleared the store of workers and customers, then took the suspect into custody.
Police confirmed that the suspect, who was described as cooperative, did possess two knives.
Through investigation police say they determined the man did not threaten or menace anyone with those knives, and was suffering from a mental health crisis.
He was taken to the hospital and no charges were filed. Police did not identify the man involved.
