The New York Mets have called up top third-base prospect Brett Baty from Triple-A Syracuse, according to a report from SNY’s Andy Martino.
Baty, 23, has been destroying Triple-A pitching, going 14 for 35 (.400 AVG) with five home runs in nine games since being demoted at the end of spring training.
With third baseman Eduardo Esocbar hitting just .115/.167/.227 to begin the season, the Mets felt like it was time to make a change.
It is not yet known what the corresponding roster move will be as the team has not announced anything.
More to come…
