North Country duo face felony charges after storage unit break-in

On April 12, 2023, a daring burglary was thwarted in the early hours of the morning at the A-Bay Storage Facility, located on State Route 12 in the town of Alexandria. New York State Police have arrested two Watertown residents in connection with the break-in.

Austin M. Keenan, 24, and Dale A. Damon, 64, were both charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, and possession of burglary tools. The suspects allegedly broke into a secured storage unit at the facility using force.

The property owner interrupted the burglary, which took place at around 3:45 a.m., prompting the suspects to flee on foot. State Police patrols later located and apprehended both Keenan and Damon.

The U.S. Border Patrol also provided assistance in the search for the suspects.

Following their arrest, the duo was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court (City of Watertown Court) and released on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to appear in the town of Alexandria Court on April 18, 2023, at 5 p.m.
