District Attorney Mark Sinkiewicz has announced his intention to run for reelection, paving the way for a rematch with John Nabinger, the man he narrowly defeated four years ago. Sinkiewicz, who has been endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties, officially filed petitions for the November ballot.
With two decades of experience in the district attorney’s office, Sinkiewicz believes he possesses the right combination of experience, leadership, and ability to serve the community. “I want to continue to put it to good use to keep our great community safe,” he said.
Sinkiewicz’s announcement comes about a month after Nabinger, assistant county public defender, declared his intention to run again. Nabinger has received endorsements from county Republicans and will also appear on the Conservative Party line in November.
Sinkiewicz first became acting district attorney following Barry Porsch’s election as county judge. He had previously served as first assistant district attorney under Porsch for nine years.
