The Bath Village Police Department has stirred up controversy with two recent social media posts that address crime and the state government’s approach to it.
On Tuesday evening, the department shared a post on its Facebook page claiming “chemically dependent” individuals were burglarizing garages on Robie Street and Warden Street, stealing items such as motorbikes.
The post went on to imply that these individuals may not have received sufficient affection during childhood. This comment has since been removed from the post.
The new message asserted that the majority of crime in the village is perpetrated by people under the influence of drugs and with multiple pending felony charges.
The post concluded by encouraging public concern about crime, suggesting that it could drive positive change.
