Yankees bounce back with blowout win over Guardians

The New York Yankees (7-4) bounced back with an 11-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians (7-5) on Tuesday night at Progressive Field. 

New York fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but they responded by scoring in four of the next five innings to roll past Cleveland. 

Franchy Cordero led the way with a three-run homer, his third of the season. He leads the team in RBIs with 10. 

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles and two walks. Willie Calhoun, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Jose Trevino also plated runs. Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu, and Aaron Hicks had two-hit games. 

Gerrit Cole gave up two runs on five hits over seven innings of work while walking two and striking out three. He improved to 3-0 on the season. Albert Abreu recorded the final six outs of the game. 

The Yankees will try to win the series on Wednesday with Clarke Schmidt on the mound. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
