The New York Mets (6-5) got back in the win column on Monday night with a 5-0 victory over the San Diego Padres (6-5) at Citi Field.
Jeff McNeil put the Mets on the board with a two-run double, Eduardo Escobar added a sacrifice fly, and Francisco Lindor capped off the scoring with a two-run double.
Max Scherzer allowed just one hit over five shutout innings while striking out six. He was pulled from the game because of a high pitch count. John Curtiss, Drew Smith, David Robertson, and Adam Ottavino recorded scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
The Mets will try to win the series on Tuesday with David Peterson taking the ball. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
