Yankees take series from Phillies

The New York Yankees (4-2) secured their second series victory of the season with a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies (1-5) on Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Gleyber Torres stayed red hot at the plate as he drove in two of the four runs with a pair of two-out RBI singles. He also picked up a double and stole two bases.

Jose Trevino smacked his first home run of the season, a two-run shot.

Gerrit Cole picked up where he left off on Opening Day, tossing 6 1/3 dominant innings while allowing just one run on three hits and striking out eight.

Jonathan Loáisiga surrendered a run in relief. Clay Holmes recorded the final three outs while striking out the side.

The Yankees will get the day off Thursday because of a rainout and will open a three-game series with the Orioles in Baltimore on Friday. The first pitch is slated for 3:05 p.m.
