Flooding and power outages. Both were common reports between Penn Yan, Geneva, Seneca Falls, and Auburn.
First responders in Geneva, Waterloo, Seneca Falls, and other areas in Cayuga, Seneca, Yates, and Ontario counties were busy pumping basements, and clearing stormwater drains, so heavy rain that fell during the day could slowly subside overnight.
Hundreds of flooded basement reports came in between Cayuga and Seneca counties alone. Dozens more were coming in throughout the evening in Ontario County.
Several roads in Seneca and Ontario counties were impassable, and there were reports of the railroad tracks along Fall Street being partially washed out.
While parts of Seneca and Ontario counties dealt with significant flooding overnight- another part of the region saw it’s share of wind damage from thunderstorms that rolled through yesterday afternoon.
First responders and utility crews were busy dealing with downed utility poles, in addition to flooding around Yates County.
