In celebration of April being National Credit Union Youth Month, beginning today Oswego County Federal Credit Union will celebrate Credit Union Youth Week through Friday, April 7, in all of its branches.
National Credit Union Month is celebrated by credit unions nationwide by providing activities and resources to teach and encourage youth to develop healthy financial habits. The theme of this year’s Credit Union Youth Week, designated by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), is “UNLEASH the power of Saving at Your Credit Union™.” According to CUNA, more than 700 new youth accounts were opened and 23,490 deposits were made during 2022’s Youth Month.
Oswego County Federal Credit Union CEO Bill Carhart shared, “We always look forward to celebrating Youth Credit Union Week in our branches because it’s a great opportunity to educate and celebrate the benefits of credit unions with younger members.” Carhart added, “We are thankful to have this opportunity to provide them with resources to develop healthy financial habits at an early age that will follow them into adulthood.”
Each of Oswego County Federal Credit Union’s branches will offer a variety of youth-friendly activities and prizes as well as light refreshments throughout the week. New youth members will receive a cinch backpack with special credit union goodies and the opportunity to choose an item from the mystery box of prizes. Existing members who visit the branch will be able to spin a wheel to win exciting prizes.
