USPS employee brings gun to work at CNY location

U.S. Postal Inspectors have launched an investigation into a concerning incident that unfolded at the Dewitt Post Office.


NewsChannel9 reports that officials confirmed that an employee of the post office brought a gun to work.

“The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is aware of a recent report of an employee of the DeWitt, NY Post Office possessing a firearm while on postal property,” officials said in a statement. “Postal Inspectors responded and are currently investigating. There is no current threat to employees or customers. Since this is an active investigation, there are no further details available.”

It’s unclear when the incident occurred. It was first reported on Thursday, March 30.
