A Steuben County man, who was previously convicted of a sex offense six years ago, has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rochester to possessing child pornography.

Joshua Wormley, 38, was previously convicted in July of 2017 for attempted possession of a sexual performance of a child. However, according to federal investigators, less than four years later, Wormley was found with a cell phone that contained approximately 800 pictures and two videos of child pornography, some of which depicted prepubescent minors.

On Wednesday, Wormley admitted to possessing the pictures and videos of child pornography found on the phone. He is set to be sentenced in August and could face between 10 to 20 years in prison.

The investigation leading to Wormley’s guilty plea was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia and the Yates County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Ronald Spike.
