Police have arrested Kendra Nichols, a 26-year-old Elmira woman, for allegedly making a bomb threat against a daycare center in Horseheads where she previously worked. The threat was directed towards Amy’s Sunshine Center on W. Broad Street, and it was deemed credible by the initial investigation carried out by Horseheads Police.
The daycare center was evacuated, and authorities including Horseheads Police, New York State Police, Horseheads Fire, and school staff searched the center, but no explosives were found.
Following the investigation, Nichols was charged with a misdemeanor for making a threat of mass harm. Police consulted with the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office before making the charge.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Village of Horseheads Court to face the charges.
